Osaro, a provider of machine-learning-enabled robotics, has formed a strategic partnership with IHI Logistics & Machinery (IHI), a leading integrator of factory automation equipment in Japan.
Control Design reported that the collaboration aims to boost the adoption of robotic systems in warehouses across the country. Under the agreement, IHI will license Osaro's robotic depalletizing systems, leveraging their machine-learning software for various tasks such as picking, mixed-case depalletizing, induction and kitting.
This partnership signifies a significant step towards automating warehouse workflows, particularly in addressing the challenges of labor-intensive and injury-prone tasks like depalletizing.
IHI's technical collaboration with Osaro has already resulted in the installation of a demonstration system at their Yokohama Logi Lab, with plans for deploying a production robotic depalletizing system at a food wholesale company later this year.
